Our Grand Opening...

On Saturday 20th September 2014 Mirfield Mill Carpets hosted its 'Grand Opening' Ceremony.  Over 60 specially invited guests turned up to celebrate the official launch of Mirfield's latest carpet showroom.

Amongst those attending was the Emmerdale star, Chris Chittell, the actor who plays
Eric Pollard in the tv series, who was very happy to mingle and chat with guests.  Chris also presented a bouquet of flowers to Mirfield Mill Carpets first customer, Mrs. Susan Crumpton.

The Grange Moor Brass Band were also in attendance and blasted out some real favourties for the crowd.

Graham Ervine, owner of Mirfield Mill Carpets, gave an emotional speech about how proud he was to be opening the showroom.  The highlight of the 'Grand Opening' was the cutting of the cermonial ribbon, which was carried out by Graham's mother, Elizabeth.

A great ceremony, a great day and a great start for Mirfield Mill Carpets...

The Wall - Painted by Mirfield's answer to the famous artist 'Banksy'!

A local graffiti artist from Mirfield, Mattie Evans, 21, was asked to brighten up the rather life-less warehouse wall, which greets customers as they walk into Mirfield Mill Carpets.  After discussions with Graham and the team, it was agreed the huge mural should tell the journey of the making of a carpet, from the wool of a sheep, to weaving on the loom, to installation of the carpet in a home...

Graham was really keen to also incorporate some of the landmarks in and around Mirfield into the mural, including the history behind Holme Bank Mills, where Mirfield Mill Carpets is situated.  How many local landmarks can you spot?  Answer on a postcard to...

Mattie also painted the mural under the Mirfield train station bridge.  The Mirfield Mill Carpets mural has become quite the talking point in the Mirfield area and has even featured in local newspapers!
